This week, we taught the children of sunshine, combo and alpha groups the moari sticks. This native New Zealand cultural song and sticks movements were learned when I was a scout in my Victoria school’s days. We used to performed it during campfires and school functions and it was such fun each time we did it. I also believed that the movements and rhythm of this act can help children have better eye and hand coordination and help children who have poor rhythm in their young bodies. Ultimately, I wanted so much to inpart this fun and useful game of song and movement to the children of Brain Gym Playhouse so that they can have another useful tool for entertaining themselves and their family members in their free time. Who knows, maybe one day they can play with their own children and show them how to make some creative noise together.
When we first told parents about the crazy cups, one mum asked me, “What a name, why you want to make my child go crazy or what “and some asked, ‘the cups make them go round and round is it” now after three weeks of practice , now they know how the crazy cups can make the neurotransmitter in the brain works better.Kids are more focused. We do the Brain Gym before we practice on the crazy cups-or the stacking cups and these kids improves on their speed. Singapore got the first championship . More to come. Thanks to Dr. Paul Dennison for Brain Gym and Mr. Zion( Ngee Ann Primary School) for introducing crazy cups to Brain Gym students here at Brain Waves. The mums are putting their hands on the cups too..
I was first introduced to the crazy cups by Zion, the teacher from Ngee Ann Primary school who has inspired his students to such dizzy heights. His 5 students who represented Singapore are now world champs in the recently concluded challenge in Colorado, USA.Thanks to him, now my Brain Gym kids have another fantastic hand/eye co-ordination game to feed their sensorial organs.
